I realized having two posts a week is too much for me at the moment, so I’m going back to a post once a week. There will however, soon be another thing I’m trying out and I hope you won’t mind it!
Masayoshi Hazama (CV: Toshiki Masuda) wants to be a superhero. He believes that he can make the world just and after his grandfather dies he starts being Samurai Flamenco – a superhero. In his superhero outfit he saves people as best he can, and tell them when they are doing wrong regardless of whether they are crossing the road when it’s red or putting out the trash the day before trash pick-up day. As he works towards realizing his dream, he one night meet the police officer Hidenori Gotou (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) who becomes that friend helping him when he’s in need or reprimanding him when he has done something stupid.
If you want to see a wannabe-hero fight street thugs, aliens, the prime minister of Japan and the more aliens, meet the consciousness of the universe and naked shout “Let’s get married!” to his best friend, you have certainly found the right show. If that’s not what you want, STAY THE HELL AWAY. This is probably one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. Ever.
THIS IS SHIT WEIRD. SO. EFFING. WEIRD.
It started airing right when I was in a superhero craze and I immediately picked it up. I was so happy about how realistic it was.
THEN A GORILLA WITH A GUILLOTINE IN THE ABDOMEN APPEARED. (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻
I don’t know how I did it, but I watched through the entire show of 22 episodes, sending text to my boyfriend every or every other episode for at least half the show. Eventually I just wanted to get the entire show explained to me and I kept watching. I ended up having tons of questions though. The main one is probably WHY DID ANYONE MAKE THIS?
A few others I have:
What happened to Samumenco’s parents?
Why did his gramps want him to be a superhero, really?
WHY DID HE STRIP NAKED IN FRONT OF A KID?
Was the entire show just, like, a hallucination of Masayoshi’s?What the eff is this shit?
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIDENORI’S GIRLFRIEND?!
There’s apparently a comic which started publishing around the same time as the show started airing and I might read it in hope to get some of my answers, but I’m not expecting much.
Finally, it’s completely unnecessary to mention, but I hated this show. I just hated it. I’ve never wanted to cry so much for wasting my time as much as i have while watching Samurai Flamenco. And I have nothing more to say about it.
