Annyversary 2017

Happy New Year everyone and happy Annyversary! Today is the third anniversary since the relaunch of the blog. Time sure flies, doesn’t it! Last year was in a sense eventful, especially for the blog (and my health), but I got through that one as well! Now it’s time to share my goals for the year. But let’s start with following up how I did during 2016.

Keep the posts coming!
I did manage this well. I didn’t study anything, but spent a lot of time being ill instead, so my schedule was good for me. Sadly my health did force me to take a two month break though.

Have a variety of content.
This year ended up being heavy on the games and for most part I don’t think people noticed the variety, because most of the non-game posts were early in the year. I did have a variety though.

Keep working on the guide.
I did manage to work a little on the guide, even though it was nothing enough to actually post a new part of it. However, I did start a series with suppose magical girl shows in Mahou Shoujo Monday.

So overall, I did pretty well this year. For this year, my goals are pretty much the same, however…

Focus on health.
This is important. As some might have noticed, I went on a hiatus at the end of the year because my health kind of crashed into a pit. I have weak health to begin with, and I think part of it was that I was incredibly stressed about a lot of things. That included trying to keep up with my schedule, which included a lot of games the previous year. I had a schedule made before and it lasted to 2018, but I have scrapped it for a new and probably kinder to my health schedule. I will still…

Have a variety of content.
It won’t be as game heavy, and instead be more varied so that I don’t have to finish a game every 1-2 months. That was tough on my health, especially when I in August started getting worse and just kept being worse for a long time. I will try having a mix of posts so nothing really comes in blocks, giving myself time to finish games with things that takes less time to get through and review in-between. I will also…

Only have legally attained content.
This means it’s been bought, borrowed or is available for free, like a stream on Crunchyroll. I tried this during 2016 already and only had one post which was not something I owned or could watch, read or play for free. This means, however, that I might end up having to delay some newer titles because I can’t afford them. I personally try to put in a small amount of money to this blog every month when I have something for it, and my funds otherwise come from affiliate links or Patreon. Due to this I’ve decided that I…

Won’t go over budget.
This is a really important part, especially for my health. What I can’t buy with the funds I have, I can’t review. In fact, I can’t even buy it for my “private” (ie, stuff I don’t get for the blog) entertainment without funds. I rather want to set higher priority to food and medication and possible aids to help my health from getting worse so I can keep posting, than going over budget, have no food and no medication and sit on the floor while in tremendous pains just to play a game I bought to review. It’ll remove stress about the budget as well, making a better environment for my health. But! I will…

Keep posting!
My schedule isn’t changing in any way to have fewer posts. I will keep posting something every last Sunday of the month this year as well. Don’t worry. And finally, I…

Will continue my Mahou Shoujo Guide work.
No promises when it’ll come out, because I am lacking in funds to buy some of the material I need for some early shows to define the different subgenres, but if I end up having some blogging funds over by the end of the year, I’ll put them into getting the necessary titles.

What’s new for 2017?
This isn’t new, but I have put up a schedule. What is new however is that I have set specific days of the month for (almost) all to be posted regularly.

  • Mahou Shoujo Monday: Third Monday of the month
  • That Game Club game review: Second Tuesday of the month
  • Crappy Android Otome Game review: First Thursday of the month
  • Request Friday: Any Friday, but with a priority on weeks with no content as well as soon after the request came in.
  • Regular post: Last Sunday of the month

Aside from the regular posts these may skip months if I have no content for the review or am simply too busy with the regular content or life, but I’ll try having something every month.

Another semi-new thing is that I won’t necessarily review something based on getting all endings or at least have gotten one play-through or the like. It’s semi-new because I’ve done this four times before in the past, when not counting the Crappy Android Otome Game series. I will most likely still try to get all routes for otome games (that aren’t on mobile platforms), but it’s not necessarily something I will do for everything. Therefore I might be reviewing an ongoing series or a game I didn’t finish. But if that’s the case I will also point it out. This is to assure content and lighten my load so my health can stay well and I can keep blogging regularly. It’s both for you, and for me. But if I have extra time to later finish something I reviewed early, I’ll add my thoughts on the completed thing.
