Batch #11: Manga

A comic batch! I’m fairly certain I promised this a while ago. Oops. Anyway, I’ve been borrowing some stuff from the library, so here goes!

Black Butler
Ciel Phantomhive is a young aristocrat in a fantasy Britain, and he is the owner of a very successful toy manufacturing company. but not is exactly how it seems, with Ciel having an unusually capable butler, Sebastian, and he has responsibilities that might be a bit heavy on his child-sized shoulders.

I’ve tried to read this before, but to some degree, it’s not my thing. I love the aesthetic of it, but despite being targeted more towards girls/young women who read shounen it’s not really targeted to me. I want to like it though. It’s the right genre, it’s the right aesthetic, it’s the right kind of art. But it all kind of falls apart for me in the story-telling itself. At least 2 volumes in. Natsume Yuujinchou Go

For another season we get to follow Takashi’s daily life with Nyanko-sensei (CV: Kazuhiko Inoue). Batch #5

Batch posts are posts where I write early impressions on shows I end up dropping or about OVAs, which I can’t write a lot about.

54783lNatsume Yuujinchou: Itsuka Yuki no Hi ni

Takashi Natsume (CV: Hiroshi Kamiya) is able to see demons. One snowy day he sees a demon who is searching for something, but doesn’t know what it’s searching for. Takashi tries to help it, but it’s hard when all he knows it’s something nostalgic, new, sparkling and warm. When the demon finds it, it became a flower and disappeared.

It’s typical to Natsume Yuujinchou and filled me with emotions – as the show always done. I loved this little OVA and when I watched it earlier this spring, it was really fitting. All in all, it’s a lovely OVA which captures the essence of the entire show, music, pacing, story and feelings included. I should write about NatsuYuu in the future.
