Detective Conan

In celebration of watching over 700 episodes of the anime and the comic being published for over 20 years now (20th anniversary was on February 2nd, 2014) I thought I should write about this show and comic I love so dearly. As there are at the time 18 films, 12 OVAs, specials, a light novel, the spin-off Magic Kaito and several games that could be accounted for except for the anime and original work, this will cover the comic and anime in general.

44233lShinichi Kudou (CV: Kappei Yamaguchi) is a 17-year-old living in Tokyo. His father is the mystery novelist Yuusaku Kudou (CV: Hideyuki Tanaka) and his mother is the retired star actress Yukiko Kudou (CV: Sumi Shimamoto). But Shinichi himself is famous too. He’s the famous high school detective that even the police trusts. After promising his childhood friend Ran Mouri (CV: Wakana Yamazaki) to take her to Tropical Land if she wins a tournament, the two of them end up in a murder case where a person was beheaded during the roller coaster ride they were on. On this ride were two men in black and – after he figured out the case and the perpetrator was taken to the police – Shinichi spots one of them being suspicious. He follows them while telling Ran to wait for him. The boy has stumbled upon a new case. But the other man in black noticed him and knocks him out cold before giving him a poison to kill him.

Left to die on the ground a police finds him  and his taken to the police station where he’s wound from being hit is treated and he realizes he has turned small. He hurries home where he meets his neighbour, professor Hiroshi Agasa (CV: Kenichi Ogata) who – after a bit of deduction from Shinichi – learns about what happens. Professor Agasa manages to get Ran to take in Shinichi – who introduces himself and Conan Edogawa (CV: Minami Takayama) – to live with her and her father, a lousy detective called Kogorou Mouri (CV: Akira Kamiya (episodes 1-548), Rikiya Koyama (episodes 549 forwards) and with the help from the professor, Shinichi (or Conan) tries to find a way to turn back to his actual size. Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS

40267lUsagi Tsukino (CV: Kotono Mitsuishi) is the reincarnation of the Moon Princess. She now is the magical girl Sailor Moon with her friends and her boyfriend. Her future daughter, Chibiusa (CV: Kae Araki) has been sent from the future to train with her mother’s past self. Earth is now threatened by the queen of the dark side of the moon and a priest, Helios (CV: Taiki Matsuno), who has been captured, is hiding in Chibiusa’s dreams.

I haven’t covered the three past seasons, but some day I will. Although, I might not want to re-watch the third season at all, because although I started to find this season grating, the previous one was more so. However, in a sense, this is much worse, because Chibiusa completely steals the spotlight from Mamoru Chiba (CV: Tooru Furuya), who barely even showed up in this fourth season of Sailor Moon and is forever a shallow support character. I love Mamoru to death (because I read the comic years ago before watching anything of the show not aired in Sweden) and I don’t really mind Chibiusa, but this season was supposed to be about Mamoru. I could complain about it however much I’d, but it won’t help anyone 19 years after it has aired. Continue reading “Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS”

Batch #1

Batch posts are (mostly) early impressions on shows I dropped along the way over the season. Most shows which I stop watching are dropped within the 3 first episodes or I watch through it, but there are times I drop them further in (usually longer shows). The following four are all from this ongoing winter season.

56589lSaikin, Imouto no Yousu ga Chotto Okashiin da ga.

Or ImoCho for short. In English it’s “Recently, my little sister has been a bit weird” (ignore the fact I just translated the title as is, which isn’t what I’ve actually the English title, as far as I know).

These little sister light novels are going to kill me. I thought that after torturing myself through 12 episodes and a recap of Disgusting Wifebeaters (aka Diabolik Lovers) I could watch anything. I was wrong and ImoCho slapped that in my face only days after I thought I could watch anything. Life is cruel.

Well, ImoCho seemed to be liked by my boyfriend after a single episode (I didn’t check his rating on it on MAL. Nope.) but as I’m not interested in a combination of following ingredients:
Step-siblings (older male, younger female) alone in a house (well, will be – parents are leaving for India)
Chasity-belt
Ghost masturbating while possessing girl
And more stuff like as above. Yeah, I admit I couldn’t write more without being at loss of words.

I guess the first episode could basically be described as tasteless soft porn. I’m not into that. I’ll take on those vampires any day, as long as I don’t have to watch ImoCho. Continue reading “Batch #1”
