Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE!
A group of five youths have gathered in an empty club room with a sign saying “Earth Defence Club (lol)” at their school, an all-boys school. One day a pink wombat (CV: Mugihito) appears and makes the five Battle Lovers to protect earth from evil. The Earth Defence Club is made official with their dead teacher as their supervisor. At the same time the student council at Binan Koukou act as the evil with a green hedgehog called Zundar (CV: Hiroki Yasumoto) as their leader.
I’ll keep it short not to spoil the little story this show has. This show, called Cute High Earth Defence Club LOVE in English, is a great mahou shoujo parody that is really funny. It’s sadly unappreciated, but it’s actually a very good show, which is well done and doesn’t take itself seriously. The name of the school – Binan Koukou (translated to Cute High) – is roughly translated to Pretty Boy High School, which in itself just show how it’s not taking itself seriously.
I loved the show, because it’s well made and is spot-on on how it makes fun of mahou shoujo, doesn’t take itself seriously, and doesn’t repeat the exact same jokes every time. It even has a plot twist! I recommend this show to anyone and everyone. The only people that might want to stay clear of it are the people who gets embarrassed when they see boys transform in a really mahou shoujo-ish way. It was totally one of the best things that aired this winter season.
