This is going to be a very short post. I’m down with a pretty bad cold, so, you know, I’m feeling half-dead at the time of writing this, and if one half of me is dead, i guess the other one can be described as buried.
Buried in bed.
I still wanted to take a second, or minute, to just write a little.
I’ve had a few bad years, when I haven’t been writing much on the blog and that’s unfortunate, but my health really hasn’t been good. Last year, though, I did progress! Most posts!
I have a few hopes for this year, and yes, i call them hopes rather than goals at this point. It’s like it’s all wishful thinking. So here are my hopes:
A review every other week
That’s meant as an average. I could, in theory, post all of them in February and call it done. But I’m shooting for one every other week. Sometimes that might be 8 days apart, sometimes 14 and that’s fine. That’s the span in-between that I’m shooting for.
So I hope there will be 2-3 every month, but I can’t make any promises, especially on weeks when there are breaks, such as the 10 weeks of summer break in June, July and August. I might also be moving this years, which would mean I can’t do it then during the time before and after that either, so it might end up with 8 months with 3 to 4 each, and then 4 without anything at all, or divided equally. Or everything in December. I don’t know.
I will put up a link to a page in Notion where I’ll be posting when I’m not really available, or entirely unavailable, and I’ll update it as needed. I don’t know when that’ll be up. Probably before February?
More old reviews
I will continue editing and postiing the old reviews. I have, I don’t know, maybe about 250 of them left? Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. It’s hard to estimate because some of the posts that I currently unavailable weren’t reviews, while others were batches of them. But I’m guessing there’s roughly 50 or so in batches, making it around 250. I guess a low estimate is 225 and a very, very high 275? I want all of them up before 2026 though! So this will likely be my absolute main focus!
12 books; 3 games
If you do the math, you know that’s 15 and not 26. But I didn’t want to restrict myself too much. Sometimes I might not read, play, watch or listen to what i was planning, so i want to give me that gigantic wiggle room.
But! I can say this: Because Peach Flower House has closed down, I will put in some effort to finish reading everything I have that’s been published by them. Not because I want to sprinkle salt in my own wounds (they were my favourite danmei publisher!) but rather to give an idea of what they had released, what people may be interested in trying to find second hand or urge a different publisher to pick up eventually, but also to give you an idea of what I did like and what i didn’t, why and naturally give you a broader idea of what i like, and hence what you might like from what I I review.
While I review for myself, primarily, because I like sharing my thoughts and also just want to record those thoughts, ever review I write, good, bad or neutral will give you a better idea of whether my taste aligns with yours. My taste in horror might not align with yours, but we might have the same crappy sense of humour, for instance, and that’s fine.
I also have Rosmei, which takes up my most recent purchases, so that’s what i plan on focusing on. That means I’m be reviewing these (possibly in order):
- The Imperial Uncle
- How to Survive as a Villain vol 1
- University of the Underworld
- Don’t You Like Me vol 1
- Little Mushroom: Judgment Day
- Little Mushroom: Revelations
- In the Dark
Additionally, I also have Silent Hearts, Salad Days vol 1, and Dawning published by Via Lactea if I want to keep up doing smaller publishers than Seven Seas. (Nothing wrong with them, but you know… I can’t read everything at once). Nan Chan vol 2 and Guardian vol 3 are likely also titles I’ll review this year. That basically covers all of the book reviews.
But aside from reading, I also want to get a few games in, and I figured that trying to average 1 game every 4 months is doable. So roughly one book review a month, a game review every four months, and 11 wild cards.
Stories
I started posting stories here a while ago. First with Haunted and then The Amnesia Tonic. I will continue with that with Beyond the Horizon, When the World Falls, I’ll be Safe from the Wrath of God, and Blood of Destinies Rewritten, if not more. I don’t have a decided schedule or amount decided upon, but I hope it’ll be a few.
And that’s it. I usually try to write these longer, for better or for worse, and I’m too sick to even really spell or grammar check (sorry, not sorry!). So… That’s all I have this year. I don’t have much to say about last year either other than I was heartbroken by the closure of Peach Flower House, and overjoyed about Nan Chan vol 1 being released.
