52603lRin Tohsaka (CV: Kana Ueda) and Luviagelita Edelfeldt (CV: Shizuka Itou), Luvia for short, are maguses that have to work together – despite their obvious rivalry – as magical girls to collect Class Cards and become the apprentices of the magus master. Due to their fighting their kaleidosticks Ruby (CV: Naoko Takano) and Sapphire (CV: Miyu Matsuki) finds new masters for the task, and these two happen to be Illyasviel von Einzbern (CV: Mai Kadowaki), Illya for short, and Miyu (CV: Kaori Nazuka) – two middle schoolers. Kobayashi ga Kawaisugite Tsurai!! (>_<)

illu05Megumu and Mitsuru Kobayashi (CV: Ayumi Fujimura) switched places because the upperclassman Megumu is in love with, Aoi Sanada (CV: Daisuke Ono) never touches girls because he’s bad at dealing with them. They end up kissing while Aoi believes it’s Mitsuru, which is really confusing for him. Due circumstances they end up at Aoi’s house where he finds out that it wasn’t Mitsuru he kissed, but Megumu, as he ends up seeing her naked in the bath. We follow her and the other newcomers Saya Miyoshi (CV: Mai Nakahara) and Yukata Hasebe (CV: Tatsuhisa Suzuki) and their supervisor Taishi Ichimiya (CV: Takahiro Sakurai) and the temp Megumi Chihaya (CV: Aki Toyosaki) in their daily life at the ward office and the various troubles they come across. 51619lTomoko Kuroki (CV: Izumi Kitta) is a socially awkward geek who spends a lot of time playing otome games, listening to drama CDs and watching anime. When she is getting into high school she’s certain she’ll be popular, but regardless of what she does, she’s always alone, and the people closest to her doesn’t seem to notice her problems at all.

Watamote (or “However I think about it, it’s your fault I’m not popular!” translated into English and with the official English title WATAMOTE ~ No Matter How I Look At It, It’s You Guys’ Fault I’m Unpopular!~) can be seen in two ways. One is that it’s extremely depressing. Other is that it’s funny as hell. It’s the hit or miss anime of a century. I can see how it’s depressing and how it might seem terrible to laugh at it because Tomoko’s life sucks. Her only friend from middle school doesn’t even realize how much Tomoko struggles.
