Heaven Official’s Blessing (manhua)

Time to Read:

1–2 minutes

Xie Lian was once upon a time the noble Crown Prince of Xian Le, a country that disappeared 800 years ago. He was born under a lucky star, yet after ascending to godhood at a young age, everything seemed to go entirely against him. After 800 years, Xie Lian ascends a third time, but he has neither worshippers nor merits, and he goes to the mortal realm, where he meets a knowledgeable youth in red…

THOUGHTS

I absolutely adore the novel (and am so hyped about the official English translation!) and I am definitely very biassed. However, the story is very good and worth reading. This adaptation does the original justice, and the artist, STARember, has a gorgeous style that suits the story very well.

I definitely recommend this. It’s not heavy on the BL in the sense that though the feelings are there, there aren’t a lot of things like kisses in the original, and I think that if someone is curious about danmei or BL in general this comic might actually be a good place to start, assuming one enjoys fantasy.

Edit 2024-02-07: This post used to include a link to the International Bilibili Comics site, however, due to the service’s closure, the link has been removed. The translation provided by Bilibili Comics was originally by a scanlation group that they then approached, meaning it became the official translation until the closure of Bilibili Comics on February 29, 2024. 101 episodes were released in English up to the date of the platform’s closure, with the last episode released on November 18, 2023.

  1. Thanks for the review! I saw the announcement for the English releases and I’m super excited. I’m new though, so what order do you read the series in?

    • I’m excited too! I’m glad they’ll be keeping terminology fans are already familiar with. I preordered all the first books and will have them all reviewed sometime around the shift of the year, I’m sure.

If you mean which order to read Heaven Official’s Blessing (TGCF), Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation (MDZS) and Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System (SVSSS), it doesn’t matter because while TGCF and MDZS happen in the same world, they’re otherwise unrelated, and SVSSS has no relation to the other two whatsoever.

      • Yeah! It’s so great to see they’ll be kept uncensored too! And that’s awesome! I’m looking forward to preordering once I can.

And that’s great to hear. Thanks so much for explaining!! ❤

        • I was a little surprised about keeping it uncensored, but I think it’s a good choice, because MXTX is such a well-known author within the western fandom.

I’m glad you’re looking forward to it too! It would be fantastic if Seven Seas will pick up more titles Chinese titles, and considering the response from the fandom when they announced it and how quickly the preorders became top-ranked sales on Amazon and Book Depository, I feel hopeful about more titles in the future.

And no problem! It can be a little confusing if you don’t know the titles much and hear about all of them at once, like with this announcement.
