This time, the sound wasn’t quite real. He didn’t know why he knew he hadn’t actually heard it, but he just knew it was inside his head. That no one turned around to look at him this time was proof enough. He hadn’t turned on Do Not Disturb mode, since this phone didn’t seem to have that. Or even volume controls.
Regardless, he swiped the notification away. He’d look at that later. It probably answered his question, so he wasn’t in particular hurry to look at it. It wasn’t as if his mental questions hadn’t been answered before.
He continued to study his Seduction Stats. His best attribute seemed to be that he was charming. But he didn’t know what the average was supposed to be, so that 7 could still be really awful.
There was also “main appeal” but the System didn’t wish to reveal it yet, while his Seduction Score, found at the bottom of the column, was two hundred and forty nine.
As for his Core Attributes, his face made a range of expressions as he looked at the list. He couldn’t hide the complicated emotions in his heart.
[Health: 3]
[Strength: 4]
[Stamina: 4]
[Intelligence: 9]
[Memory: 6]
[Perception: 7]
[Dexterity: 3
[Agility: 3]
[Luck: 0]
He was frozen for a good while, then swiftly switched apps and opened up the Log. He ignored what the System had described about sex appeal for the time being, because he had a far more urgent question.
[⟨Player⟩: Why is my health 3?? Does this mean I’ll die if I accidentally bump into someone???]
[⟨Player⟩: Why is the luck 0?? I’m not THAT unlucky!]
[⟨Player⟩: Reroll! I demand a reroll!]
[A reroll is not possible. The stats have all been bound to ⟨Player⟩ based on their current abilities and status.]
[A higher score for luck was briefly considered]
The System paused and Rasmus didn’t know if it was for dramatic effect or due to bad connection poor connection. Then it continued:
[But after going over all current circumstances and ⟨Player⟩’s current situation, LUCK: 0 was the only appropriate score.]
[3 in HLTH is just as appropriate considering all factors.]
Rasmus frowned at what he read.
Considering all factors? What factors?
In real life, he was a healthy teenager, after all! This was not something he could accept!
But there was nothing he could do besides accept it, especially when the System didn’t give him any answer to the question on his mind. Reluctantly he had to reconcile with his situation. Unwilling to give up the mission, but with no way to avoid death, he murmured, “Fine. I’ll make sure not to bump into anyone and die.”
The System reacted promptly.
[Although the attribute HLTH will not affect your life or cause any risk of death, ⟨The Seduction Game⟩ wishes you best of luck in this endeavour.]
It wouldn’t affect his life or death? Then what was it for??
The System was swift as usual, but it didn’t provide him with any new information.
[HLTH will not affect ⟨Player⟩’s life or cause risk of death.]
Rasmus huffed, then scrolled up just a little. He hadn’t forgotten his question from before yet. The answer to his lack of sex appeal was truly quite simple, he realised.
[⟨Player⟩ is a minor and has still approximately 11 months before being of appropriate age for certain content. To ensure a safe experience for ⟨Player⟩, the attribute ⟨Sex Appeal⟩ is locked until ⟨Player⟩ is no longer underage.]
[⟨The Seduction Game⟩ hopes ⟨Player⟩ will have an enjoyable game experience.]
Rasmus had a complaint though: He certainly could have sex appeal too! He was practically an adult, after all.
The System didn’t reply, so he put the phone to the side for the time being. Instead, he looked at the note once more. His pupils contracted and his eyes narrowed at the pink note.
Name: Edith (F)
Age: 17
Classroom: M
Seat: Second column from the window, third from the back.Enjoys having lunch in the cafeteria, choosing a seat near the corner window with her friends. During recess, she may also take a short walk around the school. Edith is fond of small animals and nature. Her favourite foods are peaches and strawberries. She’s not fond of chocolate, spiders or reptiles. She has a fear of insects.
Edith is shy and unlikely to take action if you make too obvious suggestions, or she feels unsecure in your personality. Subtly suggest that you need the drink after getting to know you a little. If she likes you, she’ll naturally get you something.
He hadn’t quite expected this.
The clue he had thought he’d get might be something she likes, or a hint to which girl it was. Instead, this note gave him a considerable amount of information. It was written in the same handwriting as was on the outside, but this was crammed full of information.
The chubby boy next to Rasmus leaned to the side. “Let me see, what does it say?”
Rasmus folded it quickly. “What are you looking at something private for? Shoo, shoo. Keep to your side.”
“Aw, come on. Let me know. Ain’t I your buddy?”
“Would you want some random person to read notes you wrote to your crush?” Rasmus asked with a raised eyebrow.
The boy turned pink and sputtered out, “I don’t like anyone.”
Rasmus playfully elbowed him. “I was just saying, why get so red? You’re like a tomato, man.”
He continued to horse around with his deskmate after this, slipping the note into his inner pocket when no one saw. Some other boys joined in the teasing when they noticed, allowing Rasmus to take a step back.
He had only done this to make his deskmate forget about the note, at least for now. It had an extra benefit — he found out his deskmate’s name was Tim. He laughed along with the others, but he was considering the risks of taking the note as truly helpful.
It was a one-star mission, and presumable very easy to clear, but would it truly go so easily that he’d get all the information presented to him from the very start? He didn’t think.
This was definitely a trap.
