It’s the first day of his second year in high school, and Ryuuji Takasu (CV: Majima Junji) isn’t looking forward to it. He looks scary, although he’s just your average high school dude. Thankfully, he gets into a class with his friend Yuusaku Kitamura (CV: Nojima Hirofumi), and better yet, his crush Minori Kushieda (CV: Horie Yui) is in the same class too! But so is the Palm-top Tiger, Taiga Aisaka (CV: Kugimiya Rie), who mixes up Ryuuji’s and Yuusaku’s bags, and things quickly spirals out of control when she need to retrieve her love letter from the classmate whose her neighbour.
Thoughts
This is a show I forgot I had watched. I only remembered that I wanted to watch it sometime because I knew it was popular back when, but I had no idea I actually watched it. So it’s safe to say I was more than just a little confused when it seemed overly familiar. Sure, I watched shows back then, and it’s fairly typical for its era, but I shouldn’t know the plot that well, not feel like I watched it. So I decided to check out my lists on MyAnimeList and Anime-Planet which I used in the past (and to some degree use, when I want to track something not on Anilist). I couldn’t find it in MAL list, and logging onto AP showed it as a show I planned to watch. I figured I must have watched a few episodes, but never tracked it.
I was wrong and found out on Anilist when I was going to add it that I had watched it. It was just that it was during the first three months after mini was born and that time is so fuzzy in my mind, it’s no wonder I forgot. Nevertheless, I didn’t mind watching it to the end. As I mentioned, it’s fairly typical for its time, and I often prefer anime from that era, not because of nostalgia, but because trends were different and how they paced shows and similarly weren’t the same as today. It’s not the greatest romcom anime out there, however, and clearly a little forgettable.
Not really recommended as I find it average at best, but it did get quite the amount of laughs out of me. A romcom enthusiast may enjoy this more than I did.
